She is a transplant from Michigan and has happily adjusted to the warmer weather most days and really enjoys the warmer winters! Judy spent 19 years as an office manager in a Christian school with students back in Michigan. She and her husband have 2 children, a son and his wife and 2 children in the Navy and a daughter who works in Atlanta. She claims she uses the psychology knowledge everyday on her family and now on the staff at HBC.
She loves people and people watching and helping where she can. She also enjoys an eye for beauty that God gave her and likes to create, craft, paint, sew and hand stitch when time permits. Rusty Gunter, our minister of music, is a music performance graduate of Kennesaw State University. Besides his ability to play piano and guitar, he is blessed with a tenor voice through which he honors God and with which he enhances the worship experience for us all.
He is a gifted conductor, leading our sanctuary choir, handbell choir, worship band, children's choir and youth ensemble. Rusty is married to Blair and has a daughter, Jillian.
He brings more than two decades of pastoral ministry experience in diverse ministry settings — from the urban context of Atlanta to the beach community of Wilmington, N. Prior to becoming a pastor, Michael served as the associate editor for the national news journal Baptists Todayand worked as a news editor and writer for a missions organization. Michael has served in a variety of state and national leadership roles with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. He has written news and feature articles as well as book reviews and curriculum for a variety of publications.
He also leads conferences and workshops on spiritual formation, the missional church and church renewal. As a certified coach through Coach Approach Ministries, he also assists individuals and organizations to act on their dreams and live into their potential. Michael is also a member of the International Coaching Federation. For more than 35 years Michael has been married to Vicki, who works as a professional organizer. They have two children — Stephen, who works for a software developer in Atlanta and his wife, Emilee, and their son our first grandchild!
Madeleine graduated in from the University of Georgia and now works in marketing in Los Angeles. Michael holds a B. She has been involved in multiple ministries at Heritage prior to and since joining as a member in Robyn is a graduate of Berry College where the idea of serving with your head, heart and hands was instilled and cultivated. She is focused on creating a hands on environment where children can become well rounded and knowledgeable young Christians.

Upon completion of his Masters, Michael moved to Texas so that he could continue working in student ministry. Michael also served as Senior Pastor for seven years in Texas. Dwayne came to the Hillcrest staff in July of He surrendered to the ministry while still in high school in and began serving the Lord on church staffs in Dwayne has served in full-time ministry sincethrough five churches in four different states.
Dwayne and his wife Brenda have been married since and have two married sons. They are pursuing careers in public service and education respectively. Brenda serves as the Worship Accompanist for Hillcrest. Inhe began a career in public education as a Choral Director as well as a bi-vocational Minister of Music. After a life-changing event in July ofhe surrendered his life and career to full-time worship ministry.
He has had the privilege of serving in several churches and two wonderful school systems. Mike was raised in Birmingham, AL, in a loving, Christian home.

He accepted Christ at the age of 10 and was baptized shortly thereafter. His call to ministry shaped his college experience at Samford University. Over the last seventeen years, Mike has served churches throughout the Southeast in the area of discipleship. They have two sons: Ethan and Will. Andy has served on staff in various churches in the southeast as a Youth Pastor since April of Andy has been married to Jessica sinceand they have three children, Elijah, Esther, and Caleb.
She has worked with children for approximately 20 years. Annette and her husband, Byron, have two children, Leslie and Matt. Ronda was born and raised in Enterprise. Inshe began working at Hillcrest Baptist Church and has had the privilege of serving in several different capacities. Jim began his role as Interim Proclaimer in January of Over the years, Jim has served as pastor of several churches and as Interim Pastor for many congregations, including a past tenure as Interim at Highland.

Jim also serves as a pediatric chaplain with Hosparus, where he specializes in offering care to children and their families. If any parent has ever worried about leaving their child with another adult, it is simply because they have not yet met Renee. Prior to Highland, she used her biology degree from Georgetown College to work as a physical therapy technician for a few years. She has also directed camps for Passport and worked with children in a myriad of settings. An expert at making sure kids feel welcomed, Renee feels privileged to consider how each experience your children may have at camp or in classes here at church can uplift and empower them to be their vibrant, wonderful selves.
Renee also offers genuine care to families—as we all embrace the difficulties, mysteries and joys of life. She continues as a member of this team. She and her husband Tyler have a daughter. Seriously, her icing creations are spectacular.
With degrees from Samford University, Fuller Theological Seminary, and graduate coursework at Yale Divinity School, Lauren believes that when the Church engages culture prophetically, compassionately, and relevantly, it will be a place where our lives are transformed. So leading the Young Adults for Lauren is about offering space for Millennials to push back on authority while engaging the necessity of organic and sincere community.
While paying close attention to the intersections of spirituality, politics, and culture, Lauren also works with our three mission teams—community, global, and justice—to help congregants put belief and love into action. Ordained in the United Church of Christ, Lauren recently served on a local denominational oversight committee, as well as the board of Uspiritus, a residential treatment facility for children victimized by trauma.
She currently serves on the board of Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky and travels with church folk to Frankfort as often as possible to rally and lobby. In her free-time she dreams of owning a free-of-charge yoga studio that serves fair-trade, organic tea by day and red wine only by night.
She and her husband Tyler have three children. She blogs here. Perry joined the staff in his current role in February after serving at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC, and in various roles at Highland prior. New approaches to youth ministry inspire his work.
Perry is the sponsor for the Men of Quality at the Brown School and an active volunteer in the local community. Perry is passionate about youth ministry, intersectional issues of social justice, and the people of Highland. He blogs here. Kathy creates and leads from her own giftedness, equally matched by her devotion to faithful praxis.
Kathy has coordinated a robust amount of musical and choral opportunities reaching from life at Highland to the state-level Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Kentucky, and beyond to our global work in Morocco. This is a metaphor for the expansive ways in which Kathy approaches worship and the beauty of music—inclusive and far-reaching. Kathy is married to Phil, and they enjoy spending time with their son Tom, daughter-in-law Holly, their daughter Carol and her husband Drew, and their four grandsons.
